Known limitations

The rough edges in Super Preview 0.1.0, like .rtf files and .cbr comics, and what you can do about each one until a fix ships.

These are the rough edges in version 0.1.0, and what to do meanwhile.

  • Rich text shows as raw text. An .rtf file opens as plain text, with its formatting codes showing. Open it in a word processor for now.
  • .cbr comics don’t open. Super Preview reads comics in .cbz only. If you can, convert the comic to .cbz first.
  • Some pictures only show on a Mac. HEIC and TIFF pictures open on macOS. On Windows and Linux they may say the format can’t be shown yet.
  • The Windows files are not code-signed. SmartScreen asks once before the first run. Troubleshoot has the steps.

curl -fsSL https://static.superpreview.app/super-preview/releases/latest/download/install.sh | bash

Or download a file below and install it by hand.

Windows packages are not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen will ask you to confirm: More info, then Run anyway. Every file has a checksum in SHA256SUMS.
