Getting started
Install Super Preview on Mac, Windows or Linux, then open your first document. Every file is read on your own computer and never uploaded.
Super Preview opens PDFs, Word and OpenDocument files, spreadsheets, eBooks, comics, pictures, Markdown, code and plain text. It picks the right view for each file.
Install
Section titled “Install”Pick the file for your computer. The dialog lists every file in the newest release, with yours first.
Open the disk image and drag the app to Applications. It needs macOS 13 or later.
Run the setup file. SmartScreen may ask once, since the files are not code-signed yet. Click More info, then Run anyway.
Run the install command below, or pick the AppImage, .deb or .rpm for your system.
Linux install
Section titled “Linux install”Run this in a terminal. It needs no sudo.
curl -fsSL https://static.superpreview.app/super-preview/releases/latest/download/install.sh | bashThe script downloads the AppImage for your computer and checks it against
the release’s checksums. It adds Super Preview to your app menu, with the
app in ~/.local/share/super-preview and a super-preview command in
~/.local/bin.
Run the same command again to reinstall. To remove the app, add
--uninstall. Your settings are kept.
curl -fsSL https://static.superpreview.app/super-preview/releases/latest/download/install.sh | bash -s -- --uninstallTo install for every user in /opt instead, download the script and run
sudo bash install.sh --system.
Manual Linux install
Section titled “Manual Linux install”Download a file for your computer and SHA256SUMS from the Download dialog
into one folder. Then check it. The line for your file should say OK.
sha256sum -c --ignore-missing SHA256SUMSThen install the one you picked, with its name in place of FILE.
| File | Command |
|---|---|
| AppImage | chmod +x FILE.AppImage && ./FILE.AppImage |
| .deb | sudo apt install ./FILE.deb |
